The Guilford Spring awards Convocation was held on Founders lawn on Tuesday, April 10 at 6:00 PM. Guilford’s finest gathered to celebrate exemplary students. Many students were honored during the presentation for excellence in their particular field of study. Below is a list of the awards presented Tuesday and the recipients. – James S. Laing Art Award, given to sophomores and juniors who have shown excellence in art. Recipients: Phil Haralam, Josh Lynch,Noah Howard, John Boyd, and Sarah Brigham.
-George I. Alden Scholarship, a $2,500 scholarship given to a rising junior, based on outstanding character and scholarship. Recipients: Alison Goss and Elizabeth Baltan
-Lawrence T. Hoyle Scholarship, a $500 dollar scholarship given to a rising senior who is planning to enter a career in law. Recipient: Chad Collins.
-Judith W. Harvey Award in campus ministries, given to a graduating senior who has been involved significantly in campus religious life. Recipients: Miranda Bunge and Suzanna Roettger.
– Charles Hendricks Scholarship, presented to a rising senior who has exhibited noteworthy character. Recipient: Jay Gregory.
– Eugene S. Hire Award, given to an upperclassman that has shown willingness to help others in learning. Recipient: Wendy Lam.
– Clyde A. Milner Academic Excellence Award. Recipient: Danielle Wilson.
-E. Garness Purdom Scholarship. Recipient: Laura Baskerville.
-David Caldwell Log College Award, A $2,000 dollar prize awarded to a rising senior whose area of study is religion and history. Recipient: Daniel Wilson.
-Algie I. and Eva M. Newlin Social Concerns Award, given to a graduating senior who has significantly contributed in areas of peace and justice. Recipient: Amy Rousse and Hana Loring Davis.
-Ezra H. F. Weis Award for Leadership in Choir. Recipient: Kelly Davis.
-Zvi Cohen Memorial Environmental Award, given to a student who has shown great concern for the environment. Recipient: Alissa Fogg.
-Fulbright Award. Recipient: Ellen Yutzy.
