I don’t know of anyGuilford student whohasn’t spent time atQuaker Village. For coffee, music, gourmetgroceries, or goodcheap eats, it’s a quickwalk from campus. However, few ever walkthe couple hundred extrafeet to Revival Grill. After my meal atRevival Grill on Tuesdaynight, I’m beginningto think that’s areal shame. Havingdinner in a party of 12allowed me to sneak ataste of many differententrees, (all in the nameof journalism, ofcourse) and every bite wasscrumptious.Revival Grill has a “dressycasual” atmosphere. Several ofmy friends wore jeans and didn’tget funny looks, but most patronswere attired more neatly. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and quick with refills. It was all very tasteful and pleasant, but not the kind of restaurantwhere you worry so muchabout using the right fork thatyou forget to taste the food.Which was a very good thing. The group ordered the vegetablebruschetta ($4.99) as anappetizer. The bread was crispand topped with tomato, onion, and cheeses. Three friends likedit so much that they hoardedsome of the vegetables to top offtheir entrees. My entre was the BistroGrill: a beef tenderloin with onions, peppers, and gorgonzolacheese. Gnocchi, (potato dumplings)with a light sauce, wasserved on the side. At $15.99 itwasn’t for everyone’s budget, butthe dish was delicious and wellpresented. The best dish was a friend’stilapia, the special of the evening.Tilapia is a fish similar to perch, but with a sweeter flavor. It wasgrilled and topped with the besthollandaise sauce I’ve evertasted, served with mashed potatoes. This dish cost $14.99.If cash is a concern, RevivalGrill can still accommodate you.Three individual-size pizzas areoffered: spinach and goat cheese, pesto, and sausage and mushroom. Each is under eight dol-lars. The extensive sandwichmenu ranges from $6.50 to$8.99. Sandwiches are servedwith “Belgium fries,” which aresimilar to french fries but cutfresh and fried to a darkerbrown. The desserts are incredible. My chocolate cake with vanillacream was rich enough to be illegal.Another friend ordered thewarm gingerbread with ginger icecream, very tasty. Each was$4.99.Revival Grill also offers animpressive selection of beer andwine to wash everything downwith style.Don’t wait for a special occasionto give Revival Grill a shot.Save your pennies, grab somepals, and cross the Avenue to adinner you’ll remember.
