I have been caught in a STORM. Right In The Eye.All you fans of Creed, Sound Garden, and Alice in Chains, Storm is for you. This 5-piece modern, hard rock band hails from Winston-Salem and packs a lot of punch from the first song to the last.
Their debut album, In The Eye, was released in 2001. These boys rock hard and even if your musical taste does not fall towards the late 90’s, you will still find your head bouncing to the banging drums.
Storm has a surprising ability in keeping one’s attention throughout the whole CD. Once J. Scott, the lead vocalist, rips into the vocals with the opening song telling us “it’s been a long time coming/and I’ve come undone,” you just want to keep listening to see if it will be true or not.
The best song on the album, “Once Upon a Time,” opens up with a funky beat and ripping guitar riffs. The song is a sad tale of love lost and death. This song left me wishing the whole album was equally as a good.
Storm plays a tight song. All the songs sound well thought- out and they always come correct, technically speaking. There are no weak songs on this album. Each song keeps you rocking.
Unfortunately too many of the songs sound the same. I wanted more variety besides the hard pounding drums.
Storm definitely thumps hard, but overall I was left wanting more originality in their songs.
The Storm has hit and hopefully all you fans of hard rock will go out and support a local band that will guarantee a good time and a rocking night. Basically Storm is a good late 90’s rock band, although the group’s bland name is not going to help them sell any records.
