Games of the Week
Texas at Nebraska The Longhorns should take advantage of Nebraska while they can and relish in the fact that they will win in Lincoln. They better cherish this now because it won’t be long until the Huskers are back among the nation’s best. Prediction: Texas 35, Nebraska 10.
Minnesota at Ohio State No one has noticed the Golden Gophers run this season because they have done it quietly. Ohio State looked sluggish last week but that happens when you play in the Big Ten and play quality opponents week after week. OSU RB Maurice Clarett might not play in this game, if he doesn’t this could be an upset alert. I’m banking on him playing, though. Prediction: OSU 14, Minnesota 13.
Boston College at Notre Dame OK, I admit I was not sold on the Irish, not until now anyway. They dominated Florida State in Tallahassee and should win easily this weekend against a depleted BC squad. Keep in mind the BC/Notre Dame game of nine years ago, BC upset then #1 Notre Dame after the Irish defeated guess who, Florida State. Coach Tyrone Willingham is a better coach than Lou Holtz, so this time the Irish won’t choke. Prediction: Notre Dame 24, Boston College 12.
Colorado at Oklahoma Biggest game of the week, and it’s on ABC. But here in the South, we will get an ACC game instead. I’m on the first bus to the sports bar to see REAL football, though OU wins fairly handily. Prediction: OU 37, Colorado 24.
Top 15
1. Miami (7-0) Didn’t impress me much with win over West Virginia. Is this their last week at #1? (1)
2. Oklahoma (7-0) If they beat Colorado badly, they will jump to the top next week. (2)
3. Georgia (8-0) Because of my regional bias, their game against Florida isn’t one of my top games. Oh well. (5)
4. Ohio State (9-0) Too bad they don’t play Iowa this season – still have Michigan on Nov. 23, though. (3)
5. Virginia Tech (8-0) Ground game + defense + special teams = success. (4)
6. Notre Dame (8-0) Refer to above equation. (7)
7. NC State (9-0) Oh great, an ACC team in BCS contention, can’t you tell how excited I am? (11)
8. Texas (7-1) Could win-out, though that won’t get Simms off the hot seat. Can you say UNDERACHIEVER??? (6)
9. Iowa (8-1) Hawkeyes hoping for an Ohio State blunder, must avoid let-down this week against ‘Sconsin. (14)
10. Washington State (7-1) Tough road ahead: host Arizona State, Oregon, Washington before season finale at UCLA. (10)
11. USC (6-2) Circle Nov. 30 on your calendars now: Trojans host Notre Dame. (15)

14. Bowling Green (7-0) Mid-American Conference team – here we come Motor City Bowl! (NR)
15. Minnesota (7-1) That loss to Purdue Sept. 28 may have ruined their season. (NR)
