Two share $500,000 reward in D.C Sniper CaseWhitney Donahue of Greencastle, Pennsylvania and Robert Holmes of Tacoma, Washington will split a $500,000 reward for providing information concerning D.C snipers Lee Boyd Malvo and John Allen Muhammad. Holmes will receive $350,000 for reporting that the snipers were using a tree stump for target practice in a Tacoma backyard. Donahue will receive $150,000 dollars for calling 911 after spotting a dark blue Chevrolet thought to be linked with the sniper case in Myersville, Maryland. Police later found Muhammad and Malvo inside the car.
Gay Pastor Acquitted in Church Trial
Rev. Karen Dammann, 47, a pastor at the United Methodist Church in Washington, was acquitted in a church trial concerning her sexual orientation. Although church law prohibits the consecration of homosexuals, Dammann disclosed three years ago that she was in a homosexual relationship. Following ten hours of deliberation, a jury decided there was not enough evidence to sustain any charges and ruled in favor of her. The ruling allows Dammann to continue her ministry with the church.
PowerBar Founder Dies of a Heart Attack
On March 19 founder of the multimillion-dollar PowerBar Corporation and former marathon runner Brian Maxwell died of a heart attack at the age of 51. After collapsing in a post office, he was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Maxwell and his wife began selling the popular energy bar out of their kitchen in 1986. In March 2000 they sold the company to Nestle for an estimated $375 million. Maxwell is survived by his wife and five children.
Couple Arrested after Biblical Debate
A Georgia couple was arrested after a theological dispute about “The Passion of Christ” turned violent. Sean and Melissa Davidson left the theater debating whether God was human or symbolic and the argument escalated when they got home. According to a police report, Melissa Davidson had injuries on her arm and face while her husband had a scissors stab wound on his hand and his shirt was ripped. After being charged with battery, the couple was released on $1,000 bail.
