The Guilford vs. Greensboro baseball game held March 30 had a big league feel as the game was played at New Bridge Bank Park, home of the Florida Marlins affiliate Greensboro Grasshoppers. The Quakers hopped on the back of junior pitcher Zach Daw as he went seven strong innings while striking out seven Pride hitters. Daw, with another solid outing, picked up his first win on the season, thus lifting the Quakers to 2 – 0 win and a season sweep of arch rival Greensboro .
Senior outfielder Alex Starbuck hit his fourth home run of the season off the scoreboard to give the Quakers their second run of the game. Two runs is all the Quakers would need as Daw continued to be relentless on the mound.
Daw handed the game off to sophomore pitcher Eric Backus in the eighth, as Backus cruised for the two-inning save.
This marks the class of 2010’s first season sweep of the Pride.
