In this week of Senate, we were graced by the presence of our very own school President Jane Fernandez. Jane told the students about her background and life story. Some interesting facts about her life story included that she was born deaf and has mixed deaf and hearing family members. She didn’t learn sign language until she was 23 and has communicated through speaking English and mouth reading until then. As the president it is her responsibility to make sure that Guilford College as a whole has good financial health and to make sure that academic programs in the school are up to date.
