We had a discussion about racism in this week’s Senate meeting. This was a continuation in talks about racism with Integrity for Guilford. Specifically, the Senate discussed key terms including discrimination, prejudice, oppression, intersectionality, privilege, and racism. Along with the discussions, the Senate came up with a way to properly mediate these kinds of discussions for next time. More such discussions will occur in Senate throughout the rest of the semester. It was decided that discussions about racism need to be held more frequently than they have been in the past couple of years here at Guilford.
