Guilford College President Jane Fernandes came to Senate this week to talk about the student/student-athlete divide on campus. She opened her discussion with the results of a survey that she had sent out to the student population asking questions related to sports. After discussing the results of the survey, the students at Senate discussed possible ways to minimize this perceived divide within the student population. One of the suggestions was for clubs to get involved at athletic events and for student-athletes to get involved with club events. Another topic of this discussion included the possibility of Guilford adding new club sports because the survey revealed that there were certain club sports that students were interested in that are not offered at Guilford.
