“In a Quaker context, ‘excellence’ must be understood as ‘living up to the Light’ in a lifelong journey towards wholeness. This applies not only to the academic mission of the College but also to the whole person: body, mind and spirit.”
Max Carter, director of the Friends Center/Campus Ministry Coordinator
“At Guilford College, excellence is using your knowledge to better the lives of others. I am attempting to do so by organizing a football combine to highlight Triad-area talent on May 3.
We often get caught in the ‘Guilford Bubble’ not realizing that we have the tools to help lives outside of our own. I feel that every Guilford student has a unique calling and should begin to look at the world around us to make an impact on the community, and I feel this is my way to give back.”
Josh Williams, senior
“Excellence is something we bring to Guilford College, our education only allows us to harness that trait.
“With faculty support, Shawn Bowers and I are developing ‘The Center for Justice and Policy’ at Guilford College, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that will improve and develop skills in crafting public policy, providing Guilford students with the experience to become successful in policy and legislative reform.”
Wyaman Simpson, CCE senior
