Hello. We are Integrity for Guilford, a coalition of student activists working towards the goal of making Guilford College a liberatory space for all students. Our focuses include decentering whiteness and supporting and meeting the needs of  marginalized students on this campus. We also aim to dismantle all oppressive systems such as racism, sexism and classism, which permeate Guilford’s institutions and community.

At the close of the fall 2015 semester, a number of staffing changes caused discord within the Guilford College community. The changes occurred in the Student Affairs divisions at a time on campus when heavy conversations about race and privilege were being had.

Integrity for Guilford was present at nearly all of these conversations and encouraged their occurrences. Rumors have linked these conversations, Integrity for Guilford and the changes made in the Student Affairs divisions, but that is not the case.

Integrity for Guilford is not responsible for any of the changes that have occurred in those departments. Any members of those departments that have left the College have done so because of their own choices and actions and in answer to the consequences of those choices and actions.

Furthermore, Integrity for Guilford is not heading up anything resembling a “witch-hunt,” to use the language of some critiques. We have not demanded the firing of any faculty or staff member of the College.

Integrity for Guilford loves our college and believes it to be an amazing place, and because of this we believe it is capable of change and improvement, especially in order to create a space where all of its students feel welcome, comfortable, safe, valued and respected.
