“Super Smash Bros. Brawl” is a game that I have loved ever since I was a child. I remember waking up on the weekends and racing to turn on the Wii so that I could play my favorite game.

I can’t seem to recall why, but my favorite character in the game had to be Samus from the “Metroid” series. Maybe it was her design or her abilities, but I felt myself drawn to the character.

Several trailers teased the arrival of “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” to Nintendo Switch before its release on Dec. 7, 2018. Expectations for the game were high due to the success of “Super Smash Bros. Brawl” as well as other games in the “Super Smash Bros.” series. Fortunately, “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” exceeded those expectations.

There’s no way to truly be bored of this game, especially because of its frequent updates. Every couple of months, new characters across multiple franchises are added to the game. A few of these additions have surprised players, and the newest arrival to the “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” was certainly unexpected.

The character that Nintendo added to the game’s lineup was none other than Steve from “Minecraft.” Players have questioned how Steve would fit into the game, wondering what he would bring to the character lineup. However, I don’t see a problem with Steve’s inclusion in “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.” If the game can include Mr. Game & Watch, it should be able to incorporate Steve as well.

Several other Nintendo characters have seemed like odd choices for their respective games. These misfits include Isabelle and Villager from “Animal Crossing,” Wii Fit Trainer, Olimar from “Pikmin,” and Piranha Plant from “Super Mario Bros.” I believe that the two DLC slots will probably be filled in with some other characters from “Minecraft,” because it would be strange not to include more characters from such a widely renowned franchise.

“Minecraft” has been a popular game for quite some time now, and its popularity has often led to hate. Some players dislike the game because of its popularity or feel that it is overrated, while others have found issues with the game itself. The hatred toward the game has dwindled because of the influx of new games throughout the years, but it seems that disdain for “Minecraft” has returned with Steve’s introduction to “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.”

Steve’s inclusion in the game has received some mixed reactions from loyal fans. While most seem positive, there are a few negative reactions out there. Most of them don’t believe he should be in the game because he’s just an avatar, not an actual character like the rest of the cast. Fans had also hoped that other characters would join the lineup.

While it is sad that some fan favorite characters won’t join the cast, I am glad that Steve will be joining. I believe that he will make a great addition to“Super Smash Bros. Ultimate,” and that his inclusion will bring a whole new experience to the game.
